Learn handwriting
the way masters taught it.
Meshk is an iOS app that teaches the motion of handwriting — stroke order, direction, rhythm, and pressure — for any script. Apple Pencil. iPhone. iPad. A discipline.
Handwriting was never taught from a picture.
For centuries, calligraphers learned by watching their master write. Pen lifts here. Pressure swells there. Each curve in its proper order. The exemplar was alive. Today's apps show you a finished letter and ask you to trace it — flattening a thousand years of craft into a coloring book. Meshk gives you the master, restored.
The exemplar appears.
Meshk loads a font and animates each letter the way it was written — every stroke in its true order and direction. Watch the master's hand.
You write alongside.
With Apple Pencil, you follow the exemplar at your own pace. Meshk records every stroke: order, direction, speed, pressure.
You are corrected, precisely.
Not just "close enough." Meshk tells you that stroke 2 began too high, that your "g" descender curved the wrong way, that you lifted the pen one beat too soon.
Any font. Any script. One file.
Meshk's font format is a single JSON file. Each glyph is its character, its advance width, and an ordered list of strokes as SVG paths. Nothing more. Drop a file in. The app loads it. Latin cursive, Ottoman thuluth, Devanagari, your own school's handwriting standard — same format. Open. Inspectable. Yours.

"An exemplar is a teacher's voice, captured. Meshk lets us keep ours."— Beta tester, MEB-affiliated primary school
Teachers can author exemplars in their own hand — straight from their iPhone or iPad — and share them with students. Calligraphers can ship fonts with the stroke order they actually use, not what a font file happens to imply. The format is open. The app respects your work.
Meshk is distributed only on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. Free to try; unlock unlimited fonts and authoring with a one-time in-app purchase.
